The ISP3080 from Insight SIP offers UWB connectivity to provide precise and secure distance measurements and indoor real-time location that complies with the industry-supported FiRa standard. The module also includes BLE connectivity to enable setup, configuration, and intelligent power management. The ISP3080 includes an nRF52833 from Nordic Semiconductor for the BLE portion, as well as a Qorvo (formerly DecaWave) QM33110 transceiver. The nRF52833 also offers a powerful Arm® Cortex®-M4F processor and an open CPU architecture to allow customer applications to be integrated on the module, as well as a large number of GPIOs and peripheral interfaces such as SPI, UART, USB, ADCs, and others. Additionally, it includes an integrated ultra-low-power high-performance accelerometer (MEMS LIS2DE12) that allows advanced power-saving modes to be enabled without external components.
The ISP3080 module has integrated BLE and dual-band UWB antennas, RF matching circuits, and power supply support that enables the device to function over the air with just the addition of a coin cell battery. For the UWB portion, Band 5 and Band 9 are both supported, enabling global coverage that conforms to differing local regulations. External antennas can optionally be connected, should this be required. The module is offered in a miniature 12 mm x 12 mm package and is ideal for small portable or wearable devices, allowing the ISP3080 to act as the core of such applications. For a simple positioning tag, it can also be used simply with a battery and no other components.
